| Cheap International Calls - Questions and answers |
| Q. It sounds too good to be true |
| A. Read this section. Dial00.co.uk is a self-sustaining business model that saves you money and at the same time makes us a profit. There are no catches and no hidden charges. If you think this offer is too good to be true, consider things from a different angle. Rather than us offering the service at too low a cost, you are probably being charged too much by your phone company! Use dial00 instead for cheap international calls from the UK. |
| Q. How much does it cost? |
| A. Calls are charged at 0871 rates which from a BT and NTL fixed phone is 8.51 pence per minute excluding VAT day evening and weekend. Other operators may charge different rates. Please check with your phone provider. Compare BT's prices to see how much saving you can make. |
| Q. Who do I pay? |
| A. You pay your phone company for the time you are connected to 0871 9000000. We do not bill you anything. |
| Q. How does Dial00 make a profit? |
| A. We receive a part of the cost of your call to 0871 9000000. Because of the volume of calls we connect, we are able to negotiate large discounts on calls to most destinations. We allow calls only to places that cost us less than the revenue we receive from your call. |
| Q. Why is your destination list limited? |
| A. When it costs us more to connect the call than we make from your call to 0871 9000000 we cannot allow that call through. However, if you click "more destinations" on the navigation panel, you will find we can still save you money on your destination. |
| Q. Where can I call from? |
| A. Anywhere in the UK. This includes calls from phones that have an international barring facility because you are making a UK call. You can also call from your mobile phone or a phone box. You can make cheap international calls from the UK wherever you are, though some mobile and payphone operators may surcharge the 0871 call. Please check before dialling. |
| Q. Will the number I call appear on my phone bill? |
| A. If you have an itemised bill, you will see an entry for 0871 9000000 and not the number you have called using our service. |
| Q. What happens if the destination is engaged? |
| A. If you have managed to get through to our service then the call will be charged regardless of any congestion on the relevant networks. In the unlikely event of not being able to get through, hang up and try later. We do not offer any refunds due to calls not completing or being cut off for any reason. We are offering the service "as seen" and cannot guarantee any international destination will be reachable. |
| Q. What happens if I dial a number that is not in your allowable destinations? |
| A. You will hear a recorded message followed by the option of listening to the list of allowable destinations. You are also given this option if you wait too long before dialling. |
| Q. Can I program your service as a least cost route into my switchboard? |
| A. Yes. We play a short dial tone before giving recorded instructions to you. Your switchboard should be able to interpret this dial tone and make the call. |
| Q. Can I call your 0871 number from abroad? |
| A. No. BT pays us only a fraction of a penny for calls initiated from abroad. We cannot make the call to your destination for this cost, so we cannot allow the call. |
| Q. Is there any small print? |
| A. Yes. You agree not to use the service for any fraudulent, illegal, menacing or malicious purposes, and we have the right to vary destinations, cut off any call we believe to be fraudulent, and reject any incoming call without prior notice and without giving a reason. This service relies on many calls making a small margin and we need to protect ourselves in order to carry on providing cheap international calls. By making a call you agree to be bound by these terms. |
